Shaykh Yasir Qadhi is the Dean of Academic Affairs at AlMaghrib Institute, the man behind the curriculum and other academically intensive programs like IlmSummit. Shaykh Yasir is known among his students for his excellent Tajweed in both Arabic and the English language (i.e. his perfect enunciation of every letter).
Shaykh Yasir completed his primary and secondary education in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, graduating as valedictorian of his class. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston, after which he was accepted as a student at the Islamic University of Madinah. After completing a diploma in Arabic, he graduated with a B.A. from the College of Hadith and Islamic Sciences, and completed a M.A. in Islamic Theology from the College of Dawah. He returned to the United States in 2005 after nearly ten years in Saudi Arabia and as of April 2012, he teaches in the Religious Studies Department of Rhodes College, in Memphis, TN. He is in the final stages of completing his PhD in Religious Studies from Yale University.
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi is a resident Scholar of Memphis Islamic Center. He is also a lecturer at Rhodes College, in the Department of Religious Studies.
Kareem Elsayed is a trainer, consultant, coach, activist and public speaker. Born and raised in southern California, he grew up attending Saturday school right here at IIOC. He grew distant from the masjid and the deen until he started his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Irvine, where he was exposed to the essence of the message of Islam and was heavily involved in the Muslim Student Union and MSA West. This was the first of many transformations in Kareem’s life.
Kareem graduated from UCI in 2006 with a BS in Biomedical Engineering and worked for Applied Medical, designing and leading teams of engineers to produce medical devices used in surgery. Seeking deeper meaning and fulfillment in life, Kareem changed careers and became a corporate trainer and is currently leading the training department.
Kareem was also one of the founding members of the IIOC Youth Committee and served as its chairman. Imam Al Amin Abdul-Latif reverted to Islam in 1969. In 1970 he joined the Darul Islam Movement at Yasin Mosque in Brooklyn, New York. He was trained an educated in the Darul Islam school of Theology in the subjects of Usulul Deen, comparative religion, Quranic Arabic, and Tajweed under Shaikh Yahya Abdul -Kareem and received a certificate of completion in 1976.
Imam Al-Amin attended and helped organize several Imams’ training programs in Plainfield, Indiana USA in 1987 and in Mecca, Saudi Arabia in 1999 and 2000; earning certificates of completion in Arabic, Aqeedah, Sirah and Hadith under Shaikh Khalid Al Hawani.
He has been an active worker, orgainizer, preacher and teacher of Islam for over 4 decades and has traveled extensively throughout America and abroad in Europe, Canada, the Middle East, Africa, and the Caribbean lecturing on Islam, unity, and community development.
Imam Al-Amin is one of the pioneers of Islamic Dawah in the prison system of New York State. He served as a chaplainin the New York Department of Corrections from 1976 to the early 1990s.
Imam Al-Amin is one of the founders of the Majlis Ash-Shura Leadership Council of New York and has served as president since 1990. He is the Imam of Masjid Allahu Akbar in Wyandanch, New York, and the founder and Amir of the Iqaamatiddeen Movement.
Starting as a popular professor in Arabic at Nassau Community College in New York, USA, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan was quickly noticed by the wider American Muslim community. From teaching courses on Modern Standard Arabic and Classical Arabic in the early 2000s, his popularity escalated to him giving speeches to large audiences regularly at Muslim Institutions all over the US and the UK in 2012. He also frequently speaks at Islamic Circle of North America Conventions about Islam, family, and other life topics.
Through the Bayyinah Institute, he seeks to present a modern approach to the study of Islam which is nevertheless firmly grounded in the traditions of classical Sunni Islam. Nouman Ali Khan continue to influence many people all over the world, and has many students who are influenced by his work, and see him as their Ustadh (teacher).

Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan’s efforts in promoting civic engagement in Muslim youth in the Dallas-Fort Worth community have been greatly recognized by the local community.
Shaykh Omar Suleiman is the kind-hearted, friendly giant from New Orleans, Louisiana. Born and raised in America, Shaykh Omar has a unique way of relating to a western audience though his character has gained the love of people of all ages and backgrounds. As an AlMaghrib instructor, he teaches the popular “Behind the Scenes” seminar which focuses in the strenghtening of the soul and disciplining the nafs.
His journey of seeking knowledge started in 2000 in the United Arab Emirates where he spent a few years at the feet of prestigious scholars such as Shaykh Tariq Ibn Rajah and Amr Al Sheshany. Since then he has sought knowledge and studied under Shaykh Salah As Sawy, Dr Hatem Al Haj, his father in law Shaykh Abul Abed, and Al Allamah Shaykh Omar Al Ashqar (rahimahullah).
His specialties include Tafseer, History, Islamic Finance, Minority Fiqh, Maqasid, and Tazkiyah.
Shaykh Omar has two Bachelors degrees in Islamic Studies and in accounting, a Masters degree in Islamic Finance, and is currently pursuing a Phd in Islamic History from the Islamic University of Malaysia.
He previously served as Imam for Masjid Abu Bakr As-Siddique in New Orleans for 6 years and has since dedicated himself to fulltime teaching. He has taught with Mishkah University (formerly Sharia Academy) since 2008 under Shaykh Salah As Sawy and also currently serves as the director of the Islamic Learning Foundation in Texas.
Shaykh Omar also is a strong advocate of community service, interfaith dialogue, and social justice. He served as the field coordinator of ICNA Relief in Hurricane Katrina and also co founded the east Jefferson clergy interfaith council. In 2010, the Major and City Council of New Orleans awarded him for “Outstanding Civic Achievement”. He is a current member of the ICNA Shariah Council.
Dr. Soboh received his DDS degree from the University of Jordan in 1999. He received certification by the American National Dental Board in 2001 and has been practicing dentistry in the state of California since 2002. Dr. Soboh has received extensive training at the prestigious LVI (Las Vegas Institute) in aesthetic and neuromuscular dentistry.
Dr. Ahmed Soboh, has earned the designation of Fellow from LVI Global (LVI). The Fellow distinction is awarded only to those doctors who successfully complete a comprehensive exam covering the skills and techniques taught in the LVI CORE (Core I- Core VII) Series.
Dr. Ahmed Soboh currently serves as a board member of CAIR-LA (Council on American Islamic Relations). He is also a board member of Southern California Shura Council. He speaks and serves as a youth advisor at several islamic centers in Southern California. Dr. Soboh has also given this presentations at many churches, temples, various college/university campuses, and mosques around the country.
Dr. Imad Bayoun is widely recognized for his commitment to religious education, especially among the youth, as a lecturer for the Muslim American Society (MAS), and the Oak Tree Institute.
Bayoun was born in Beirut, Lebanon, where he received his BS and MS from the American University of Beirut. Subsequently, he moved to America in pursuit of higher education and completed his PhD in Entomology from the Texas A&M University. He resides in Riverside and works as the Insectary and Quarantine Officer at the Entomology Department of University of California in Riverside.
He is currently pursuing a PhD in Islamic Studies at the Graduate Theological Foundation.
Dr. Imad is employed as the Insectary and Quarantine Officer at the University of California in Riverside. He taught Aqeedah and Fiqhas-Seerah (Jurisprudence of the Prophet’s Biography) at the Islamic American University, and has produced many series of lectures on various Islamic topics including the 20 Principles of Islamic Understanding, Muslim Character and Manners, Purification of the Heart, Islamic History and many more. Dr. Imad a member of the MAS Greater Los Angeles Chapter and is one of the lead instructors at OakTree Institute.
Shaykh William Suhaib Webb is a contemporary American Muslim Imam, thought leader and educator. After his conversion to Islam, Webb left a career in the music industry and pursued his passion in education. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Education from University of Central Oklahoma. After serving as Imam and resident scholar in various communities across the country, Imam Webb enrolled at the world-renowned Al-Azhar University to study Islamic Law.
After years of study in the Arabic Language he was appointed head of the English translation Department at Dar al-Ifta al-Masriyah as a Mufti (Jurist). Imam Webb has completed the memorization of the Quran and holds a number of licenses from traditional scholars in various Islamic sciences. Imam Suhaib Webb strongly advocates for an authentic articulation of the American Muslim identity. He is a proponent of understanding the various challenges facing the American Muslim community and finding solutions based on an authentic American Muslim experience.
In 2010 his website www.suhaibwebb.com won the Brass Crescent’s best “Blog of the Year” award. Recently he was part of a delegation that visited Auschwitz to develop better understanding between Muslim and Jewish Americans. He was named by the British Government as a “Moderate Muslim leader” and was named in 2010 as one of the 500 Most Influential Muslims in the World by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center.
Shaykh AbdulBary Yahya is known as the most laid back, easy-going instructor of the AlMaghrib line-up. He is often used as the example for patience at its best, and is infamous for his personal funny experiences that he uses wittingly to teach and help you remember an Islamic concept.
Born in Vietnam during the Vietnam War, Shaykh Abdulbary immigrated to the U.S. with his family. He grew up in Seattle, WA and began his studies at the Islamic University of Madinah. It was at the University that he befriended Muhammad Alshareef, as they sat next to each other in the first year of their studies. After graduating from Islamic University of Madinah’s College of Shariah, AbdulBary Yahya returned to Vietnam and Cambodia and became a teacher and director of the Revival of Islamic Heritage Society in Cambodia and the Umm al-Qura Charity Organization in Vietnam.
He is currently the Imam of Masjid Jaamiul Muslimeen in Seattle, WA and resides there with his family. He presently is an instructor with Al Maghrib Institute, an organization that provides trademark double-weekend seminars leading students towards a bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies and is currently the Imam (spiritual leader and advisor) of Masjid Jaamiul Muslimeen in Seattle, WA, USA.
AbdulBary Yahya also holds the positions of President of the Cham Refugee Community and Vice-President of the Islamic Center of Washington State.
