The Islamic Institute of Orange County’s College of Islamic Studies (CIS) constitutes a program of study that is catered to Muslims living in the West. It draws on the wisdom and experience of Islamic institutions worldwide while taking into consideration the historical-critical approach to studying Islam taught at Western academic institutions. CIS strives to provide the best and most practical way of studying Islam, while remaining within the paradigm of an Islamic worldview. The College focuses on academic and educational development as well as spiritual and moral education. It prepares one to become an asset to the community at large by realizing that Islam is a holistic way of life manifested in all layers of society.

I’ve listened to lecture CDs and have read books on the subject, but nothing compares to hearing an authentic account of the Seerah in person. Shaykh Mustafa Umar is really good at taking moments to teach, rather than simply presenting the Seerah.
