Bismillah Ar Rahmeen Ar Raheem
The Qur’an, what other Book do we live by but it. The Book that is the Word of our Lord, the Book that in it is no doubt, the Book that is guidance for mankind and the criterion between what is right and wrong, al-Furqaan, al-Burhaan, the Book that if we hold fast to it we will be admitted to Allah’s mercy and grace and be guided to the straight path as Allah himself mentioned in Surah an-Nisaa’. These are just some of the ways Allah has described the last Book he revealed to mankind, al-Qur’an al-Kareem.
The muslimeen say alhamdulillah for the Qur’an. We say alhamdulillah for the Qur’an we recite everyday, the Qur’an that softens our heart, the Qur’an that brings the tears flowing from our eyes. Our Prophet (SAW) told us in many ahadith the reasons why we should be attached to the Book of Allah. Our Prophet, peace be upon him, told us in the authentic hadith:
Have glad tidings! Verily, one end of this Qur’an is in the hand of Allah and another end is in your hands. Adhere to it for then you will not be destroyed and you will never go astray after it.
We ask Allah seventeen times or more in a day to not let us be of those who are left astray. One of the ways to not be of those people is to adhere to the Qur’an and keep it as our guide in life. The Qur’an is the Book we get rewarded for just reciting so why would we ever leave its recitation when our Prophet told us in an authentic hadith: “Whoever recited a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed and a good deed gets ten-fold reward. i do not say that AlifLaam Meem is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Laam is a letter, and Meem is a letter.” Why would we leave its recitation when the Prophet, peace be upon him, said as recorded in Saheeh Muslim, “Read the Qur’an, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciter’s on the day of resurrection.” Why indeed would we leave its recitation when our Prophet, peace be upon him, said in the authentic hadith:
The one who was devoted to the Qur’an will be told on the day of resurrection: ‘Recite and ascend as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last ayah you recite.’
We must not leave this guidance and mercy that Allah has revealed to us. Unfortunately, it sits on our bookshelves and our tables but in it is, as Allah mentioned in Surah al-Israa’ Ayah 9, “Verily, this Qur’an guides to that which is most just and right and gives glad tidings to the believers, who work deeds of righteousness, that they shall have a great reward.”
Allah has said in Surah al-Anaam, Ayah 155, “And this Book which we have revealed as a blessing: so follow it and be righteous, that you may receive mercy.” Guidance and mercy from our Lord, these are two things we long for. We beg for them. Brothers and sisters the guidance and mercy is in the Book of Allah, the Qur’an. Become attached to it, follow its teachings, and secure it in your heart, so that you may be of those who are given the great reward of JANNA after we leave this world.
