The Special program at IIOC provides events and outdoor activities for families and children with special needs and learning differences.

Events and classes hosted by Special include:
  • Special Needs Quran Class | Sundays 10-12 pm.
  • Special Needs Hiking Club | First Saturday, monthly at 9-11 am 
  • Storytimes
  • Carnivals
  • Awareness Events
  • Community Iftars
  • Paint Nights
  • Nasheed Nights

Get Involved!

Help out with Special

A Special Needs Hiking Club (in partnership with the Art and Wilderness Institute) is held every first Saturday of the month from 9-11 AM. Club members should: 

  • Attend hikes with their caregiver who can tend to their special accommodations. 
  • All ages are welcome
  • Travel to various locations around Southern California/Orange County

This is not a drop-off, we would like to encourage family participation.

  • Hiking Leaders: Fatima Khan, Tehsina Raza, and Kiirston Valverde.


  • Hikes are Led by Art and Wilderness Institute: Trained Hiking Leader Volunteers and IIOC Special Needs Volunteers.
